This time the effort was to switch over from philosophy to travel. Hence pick “Ladhakh- mein raag viraag” by Krishannath, a good piece to read. Although no curiosity is generated like story but yes travelling (what if it is through book) is always refreshing. Some lines carry deep meaning of life “paisa haath ka mail hai. chuut jaye to accha hi hai. safai hi ho jaati hai.” Fonts are too small, hence speed of reading gets retarded. I smirked-now with weak eyesight, am keen to read this book, and earlier with 6/6 -willingness was not there. Travel memoir too could not spare itself from titillating talks of physical relations. Not tabooed one yet am surprised, firstly because the reader who has chosen this book to read was not expecting this subject, secondly- after god perhaps the most thought over subject in the world. Phraseology is bit typical “ mein ek chup. Hazaar chup” with bit local tinge “ tibbat mein yahi dekspa chumm lagate they.” Small poetic sentences - “ ek nahi, anek aise aakaar hain.sab avastra.akshat.asinchit.” Glossary should have been given for typical terminology “….is tarah iccha ka unvadhya prasaar to koi shiv hi kar sakta hai.”, unheard terminology or the author is experimenting with words. All in all a classic way- not for ordinary reader. Clicked one thought – though I have read few writers in travelogue - Shivani, Ruskin bond and now Krishannath, all from north India but not a single one from south side of the country. Brow-raising. I could not find any reason. Language does not seem a barrier here . It might have written in English also, or else have been translated in English. why this distance was there.....musing only. Back to book- It is like some- live commentary “……to saare sharir ko sir se pair tak barf ki naddi mein chod deta hoon. Deh par se himani jal bah raha hai.”. Sarcastic sometime & nostalgic at other. Unusual, unheard Hindi sentences. Rhetorical….use of simile……in nutshell an ultimate creation.
